Plant Protection Services

• To regulate/control agricultural inputs in market at provincial and district level through implementation of acts (APO 1971, Rules 1973 and FCA 1999).
• To provide sufficient knowledge to farming community in pesticides handlings and to educate pesticides business personal through trainings and skill development activities.
• Plant Protection directorate of Agriculture Extension register firms/Companies and distributors at Provincial level and pesticide & fertilizer dealers at district level.
• Keep watch on business of Pesticides and Fertilizer to safe guard farming community in provision of quality products.

Horticulture Services

• The directorate of Horticulture is responsible for the overall development of Horticulture activities in the province. The Directorate is adopting a definite policy for the development of Horticulture.
• It has field offices in almost all District with Subject Matter Specialists Horticulture are working in the district for the production of horticulture activities in the District.
• The Directorate looks after all the business and promote new interventions like establishment of off-season vegetable promotion in tunnel technology kitchen gardening to the vegetable growers and import training to the farmer to enhance their production 
• There are 7 Fruit Nursery Farms in whole of the province aiming at to raise and distribute quality fruit plants annually to bring more area under quality fruit orchards.

Model Farm Services Centre

• The Model Farm Services Centre is farmer owned, farmer financed, farmer managed, service oriented as well as income generating system of cooperative farming.
• Model Farm Services Centre is an independent entity to run the affairs of farming community by themselves. A forum which empower the farming community in decision making and active participation in policy frame work.
• The MFSC aims to provide all sort farming related services to the community under one roof.
• The elected management committee runs the affairs of MFSCs taking all the members on board.
• The MFSC make the availability/supply of required inputs under their resources to member farmers on priority and transparent basis.
• All the members of MFSC possess equal rights in every sort of services availability

Agriculture Development Fund (SEED)

• Procurement of pre basic and basic seed of wheat, maize, rice, cotton and vegetable from agriculture research system Khyber Pakhtunkhwa.
• Multiplication of pre basic and basic seed at agriculture extension seed farm for production of basic and certified seed.
• Multiplication of basic seed at progressive farmer’s field for production of certified seed.
• Procurement, processing and distribution of certified seed to farmers through MFSC, department and private network.
• Strengthening public private partnership in seed production and distribution.
• Training of farmers & Agriculture Extension staff on seed production technology.

Field Operation

• Assist the Director General Agriculture Extension in office Planning and Management Affairs.
• Control, Monitor and Administer the staff of Directorate General Agriculture Extension.
• Deals correspondence with Administrative Department and Sub-Offices.
• Develop Linkage with different Stakeholders for the Promotion of Agriculture.
• Make close liaison and develop coordination with Agriculture Line Departments.
• Attend Meetings/Workshops/Seminars on behalf of Director General, Agriculture (Extension).
• Perform duty as a Member of Vigilance Committee and Public Information Officer.
• Attend Karkeela Programs, handle Fertilizers affairs and prepare replies of Assembly Questions.
• Supervision and Inspection of field staff, crop inspection and on-going agricultural activities in the area.

Agriculture Marketing

• Working out cost economics of various crops grown in the province.
• Coordination with Pakistan Tobacco Board.
• Collection of whole sale & retail prices of Agriculture Produce.
• Affairs of two Fruit & Vegetables regulated markets, one at Peshawar and other at D.I.Khan.
• Under the Reforms initiatives of the present Government: reforms in Marketing and price collection systems are under process with assistance of USAID Firms Project.
